Rorus Core

What does the Rorus Core filter remove?

It removes the three major types of waterborne pathogens: bacteria, viruses, and protozoa. This exceeds the World Health Organization’s (WHO) Protective standards.

It removes 99.9999% of bacteria (6-log reduction), 99.99% of viruses (4-log reduction), and 99.9% of protozoa (3-log reduction). This has been verified by third party independent labs.

This protects against diseases such as cholera, norovirus, polio, salmonella, giardia, cryptosporidium, and E. coli.

The Rorus Core filter also reduces taste, odor, and turbidity (cloudiness). It does not remove salt.

When should the Rorus Core filter be replaced?

The filter cartridge will naturally shutoff at the end of its safe lifespan, preventing overuse or provision of unsafe water.

This is expected after 3,000 liters or approximately 6 months of daily use by a family of 6. Results will depend on quality of input water.

How does the Rorus Core filter compare to other technologies?

The Rorus Core filter is the fastest, simplest way to provide safe water. Ceramic filters and microfiltration units have a slower flow rate and do not protect against viruses. Ultrafiltration units remove viruses but are even slower. Chlorine tablets require people to add chemicals properly and don’t even work against cryptosporidium cysts. Solar disinfection works well against all types of waterborne pathogens, but takes 6 hours of direct sunlight and can only work on visibly clear water. The Rorus Core solves all of these issues by maintaining comprehensive biological safety and a fast flow rate.

Used within the Rorus Spring or FilterPack, the Rorus Core is uniquely affordable and simple to deploy.

How long does the Rorus Core filter take to treat water?

The filter produces on average 15 L per hour. Cloudy water (turbid water) will slow down the filter over time, so you should try to use the cleanest water you have access to. Flow rate will depend on quality of input water.

What sources of water can the Rorus Core filter be used on?

The Rorus Core filter will purify any fresh (non-salt) water such as wells, streams, rivers, rainwater, and most floods. It will work faster and last longer when used on clear water.

What is the Rorus Core’s shelf-life?

It can be stored for three years out of direct sunlight at room temperature.
